dated for 1857, smoothbore for India, with round 10in. sightless barrel, London proofs, solid plain top-tang, borderline engraved lock signed 'TOWER' with the date, crown over 'VR' mark to tail, border engraved hammer, walnut full-stock (cracked through and repaired at grip), brass furniture including butt-cap with iron lanyard ring and captive iron ramrod, slight traces of faded colour
